JENNIFER ATKINSON
is the author of six collections of poetry--A Gray Realm the Ocean,The Thinking Eye, Canticle of the Night Path, Drift Ice, The Drowned City, and The Dogwood Tree. Individual poems have appeared in various journals including Field, Image, Cincinnati Review, The Missouri Review, december, and Beloit Poetry Journal. Even when her poems are not deliberately investigating the aftermath of an oil spill or the damage human greed and fear have done all the planet’s species, they are rooted in an awareness of the sacred (which is to say beautiful) connectedness of lives and rock and air and water. She lives and teaches in the MFA and BFA programs at George Mason University in the Virginia Piedmont, a place criss-crossed with highways and creeks, inhabited by hollies and humans, dogs, crows, ferns, foxes, ticks, cattails, newts, starlings, Japanese honeysuckle . . . We are all in it together.
Please feel free to contact me if you have a question or a response to the poems or would like to schedule a reading. I’d love to hear from you!
